I know this is an old printer - but its the best printer of the world - its just running and running and running Is there an alternative driver for the Deskjet c that i could use? I understand that you are experiencing issues with your printer not being recognized.
I will try my best to help you resolve this. I am sorry to hear that did not work for you. I have investigated this issue and found that at this time there is no alternate driver that will work for the Windows 8. You can sign up to Get connected with updates from HP to have the latest updates emailed to you. Sorry I could not get drivers for you at this time, but if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
I was about to buy a new computer, a HP ef, but since HP no longer updates correctly printers , I decided to turn to Dell for my computers and my printer. I will never buy an HP product as long as you don't make a windows driver for my Deskjet C 8. Your lack of seriousness is simply outrageous. Didn't find what you were looking for?

Windows 11 Support Center. Next, name it, and allow administrative permissions to install the printer. Do not share the printer, and set it as the default. This page also allows for printing a testpage Opened the services, and verified the printspooler service as running.
Hit the testpage button, and got the notice the testpage was sent to the printer. The printer in the mean time isn't doing anything. Not even indicating that it's receiving any data whatsoever.
Printspooler is still running tho Check the printerqueue. No job present. Open the printer properties, and retry the testpage. And the printspooler stops, testpage is left in the queue. Restarted the printspooler service Restart it again, and find that the testprint has vanished from the queue. Printer still having done nothing.
Checking the eventlogs and these are in native dutch, which is the language the OS is installed in : EventID - error Naam van toepassing met fout: spoolsv. DLL, versie: 1. DLL P5: 1. So it might be the USB cable Lets take that out of the equation, and switch to the printserver.
Reconnected the printserver, and connected to the IP address I configured for the device. Once I reconnect the printserver to the printer, and ask it what kind of printer it sees, it tells me faithfully it's an HP Deskjet C. So the connector on the printer isn't faulty at all. I've done this numerous times at work sysadmin , so no real problem there.
Printer properties, ports, we select the IP port. Apply, and retry the print. And again the printspooler stops working. Restarted the service And after the second restart, the spooler remains in operation, but the testprint has gone from the printqueue. Your possibility of step 4 isn't really applicable.
I am an administrator on the system, and know I have access to everything. I've run all of this under my account which is administrator equivalent, and done so by selecting 'run as administrator' a few times. HP refers to Microsoft for the driver, but it seems the bit Microsoft driver is not up to the task of talking to this HP printer. Microsoft in the mean time seems to pretend nothing is actually wrong, because probably 'the DeskJet C is a dinosaur and thus is not used by anyone anymore'.
While I agree the Deskjet C is a dinosaur of a printer, it's also one of the finest examples of HP products to survive for such a long time, and still function properly. Going with the above test results, and my findings of my previous posts, aswell as the found posts indicating similar problems, I still stand with my reasoning that the Microsoft provided printerdriver on 64 bit for the HP DeskJet C is faulty.
Nobody else having any further ideas, drivers or potential other solutions? And we opted in with HP, to make sure you buy new hardware, eventho the old hardware is listed as 'should be working'. You get the OS for free, but can fork over cash to get your functionality from Windows 7 back.
While it WOULD work around the issue since it does not solve the issue the fact that I have a perfectly good printer, with still a load of full cartridges for it, would mean I'd have to toss more than just the worth of the printer.
Someone suggested installing VirtualBox from Oracle already have that installed , and creating a Windows 7 PC on there. Then drag over the stuff he wanted to print to that machine, and print from there, which he claimed worked. While a work-around a LONG workaround with a lot of convoluted steps , this kind of defeats the purpose of having Windows 10 on the computer. Nobody have any idea about potential work being done on the driver to get this to work?
I'd like to see it working I don't remember if I have a but I have a and in my collection. I'm going to move your post off of the LaserJet board and to the Drivers board, hopefully you will get better results there. Didn't find what you were looking for?
